Connecting a bike or heart rate sensor

Connect your bike or heart-rate sensor to the CycleMasters app for more insight during and after your workout. You’ll then see your current performance and you can train in zones that match your level.

Which sensors can you connect?

You can connect the following Bluetooth devices:

  • A bike
  • A bike sensor, for example for cadence
  • A heart-rate monitor or heart-rate strap

Do you use an Apple Watch? You connect it separately via Apple Health. Read the article about connecting your Apple Watch for this.

What can you do with a connected sensor?

After connecting, you’ll see extra data on screen during the workout. Which data is available depends on your sensor:

  • Heart-rate monitor: your current heart rate and your personal heart-rate zones.
  • Bike with power measurement: among other things speed, cadence, distance, power (wattage), and your zone based on FTP.
  • Cadence sensor: your number of revolutions per minute (RPM).

The app uses data from your heart-rate monitor or bike to make the track zones personal. That way, you can better see whether you’re training at the right intensity during a track.

After your workout, you can also find your results back on the overview page for that workout. Distance, average speed, and calories are more accurate when you’ve connected a suitable sensor. With a connected sensor, graphs for power, heart rate, and the corresponding zones can also be shown.

How to connect a sensor

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on the device where you use the CycleMasters app.
  2. Make sure your bike or sensor is switched on and active.
  3. In the app, open the screen Connections.
  4. Wait while the app searches for available heart-rate monitors and bikes.
  5. Select your device from the list and tap Connect.
  6. Follow any instructions in the app to complete the connection.

Do you connect a bike with power measurement? Then enter your details afterwards to calculate your personal zones. If you know your FTP, you can enter it. Otherwise, the app makes an estimate based on your weight and level.

Where can you connect a sensor?

You can go to Connections at three points:

  • On the dashboard, via the Bluetooth icon in the top right.
  • On the workout details page, via Connect under the start button.
  • During a workout, via the Bluetooth icon.

So you don’t have to leave a workout if you want to connect your sensor after all. As soon as the connection is made, the available data will appear in the workout interface.
